Olivette Roofing Contractor, at a glance
Olivette roofs are mostly mid century ranches and split levels with long, low pitched runs and wide overhangs, which means the ventilation and the eave detail matter more here than the shingle brand does. Free inspection, written estimate, no obligation. Call (314) 429-6000.
Why the pitch matters in Olivette
Long low slopes shed water slowly, and slow water finds every weak detail on the way down.
A lot of Olivette houses were built with shallow roof pitches and deep eaves, which looks clean and ages honestly right up until a detail fails. On a steep roof, water is gone before it can do much. On a four in twelve ranch run, it moves slowly enough to work backward under a shingle edge if the underlayment or the starter course was skipped.
That is where the ice and water membrane earns its keep. We run it at the eaves, in the valleys and around every penetration on these houses as a matter of course, not as an upsell line. In a February thaw with snow still sitting on a shallow slope, it is the only thing standing between a backed up eave and your ceiling.
Wide overhangs also mean long gutter runs with few downspouts, and undersized drainage overshoots in a hard rain and dumps against the foundation. We look at gutter sizing and downspout count as part of the roof rather than as somebody else's problem.

What is included in an Olivette replacement
This is the standard scope, written into the estimate before you sign anything.
- Complete tear off to the deck, with every sheet of decking inspected and soft sheets replaced at the price quoted in advance
- Ice and water membrane at all eaves, valleys and roof to wall transitions
- Synthetic underlayment across the full deck rather than felt
- New pipe boots, new step and counterflashing, and new drip edge on every run
- Balanced ventilation, including opening blocked soffit intake before adding exhaust
- Magnet sweep of the drive and yard, debris hauled, and a walk of the finished job with you
Anything outside that list gets priced as its own line so you can see it and decide on it. We do not bury change orders in a lump sum.

Storm season on a mid county roof
Mid county gets the same spring hail line that runs through Creve Coeur and University City, and the damage on a low pitch roof is easy to miss from the ground because you cannot see the field of the roof at all from the driveway.
We inspect the soft metals first. Gutter aprons, vent caps and downspout faces dent before shingles bruise, and they date the event for the insurer. Then we check the field slope by slope with photographs attached. You get that documentation whether or not you file. If the roof came through clean, we will tell you that too.
Olivette roofing questions
My roof is shallow. Can you still use shingles?
On most Olivette pitches, yes, with the right underlayment and starter detail. Below a certain pitch a shingle is the wrong product no matter how it is installed, and on those sections we quote a membrane or a standing seam instead and tell you why.
How long does a replacement take on a ranch?
Most Olivette ranches are a single day, start to finish, weather permitting. Larger two story homes with complicated roof lines can run into a second day. We will tell you which yours is before we schedule it.
Do you replace the decking?
Only where it needs it, and at a per sheet price you see in the estimate before we start. We photograph every sheet we pull so you are not taking our word for it.
Can you match what is already on my house?
Usually close, and sometimes exactly. Bring us the shingle name if you have the paperwork. If the line is discontinued we will show you samples of the nearest current equivalent in daylight rather than off a screen.
Is financing available?
Yes. We can walk you through the options at the estimate, and the inspection and written price come first so you know the actual number before you think about how to pay it.
